ArtFilmDesign #13 - January 17, 2006
January 17th, 2006
David Tames talks with artist Camila Chaves Cortes about Postcards from the Big Dig, a historic photography and painting/collage exhibition on display at the Paul Dietrich Gallery at Cambridge Seven Associates (1050 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA, 617.492.7000).
The exhibition runs through January 31, 2006 and the artist will be holding a speaking event at the gallery, "Transformation of Cities: Boston and Berlin," on Thursday, January 26, 2006 from 12 - 1:00 pm.
On display are over 40 pieces that document the magical and mythological spaces of Boston's Big Dig, combining photography, oils, color fabrics, and construction materials.
This collection is a follow-up to her photographs of Berlin, documenting the other major turn-of-the-century urban renovation project.
For our listeners in the Boston area, we suggest loading this podcast onto your portable media player and taking it with you to listen to the interview in the gallery among the photographs and paintings.
